Common Torte. Get good cheese, eggs, butter or other grease, saffron, pepper, ginger, cinnamon, grated bread and fat broth, and blend everything together, along with chard, marjoram and parsley, and bring it to a boil; then take it out and beat it with a knife and put the herbs in with the other ingredients; make a pastry crust on the bottom of a pan, put the mixture in it and cook it on the coals, and cover the pan so that moderate heat can be put under and over it; when it is cooked, nothing else is needed on top, but serve it.
