The original text of the recipe is as follows:

To make a stoop of good fine ypocras. So take a stoop [2.6 litres] of white wine and half a pint. Then take a mugful of this wine; make it warm. You shall mix five ounces of brown sugar well into it with a spoon. Take of the very best fine cinnamon four ounces and a half. White ginger a quarter [of an ounce]. Grains of paradise, sweet flag each four grains. From this make powder and pour it through the sack just as one does clareyt.
